Dear Sir

I am directed by my Committee to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 15th inst. and to state in reply that the conditions mentioned therein are acceptable to this Club.

It is thought that several years must elapse before the correct type of Rhodesian Ridgeback (Lion Dog) is established, and until that time arrives inspection certificates will greatly assist in eliminating undesirable specimens.

It is proposed to issue a certificate similar to the accompanying specimen for each dog which has passed inspection and to advise the owner to forward the same to you with a fee of 2/6 when the dog will be registered by the S.A.K.U.

Mr A deVere Cornwell has been appointed Inspector in Mashonaland and I have done the same duties here. If this arrangement is agreeable to you arrangements can be made for an Inspector at Gwelo. The sole difficulty as far as I can see is the inspection and registration of these dogs for an Open Show. Presumably they must be registered at the time of entry for the show. These dogs are usually kept by people living away from towns who would find some difficulty in bringing an unregistered dog for inspection prior to the closing of entries. Perhaps it would be possible in such cases for provisional registration to be accepted, and if the dog in question should obtain a certificate by our Inspector at the Show, the record would be made in your register, but not otherwise.

Your advice and experience in this connection would be much appreciated.

Yours faithfully

FR Barnes
Hon. Secretary
